The new Indian casino, the $36 million Kewadin Shores Casino and Hotel is sitting on a beautiful location on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The former chairman knew this when the building was in progress, but the foundation had already been laid. Even though a second survey indicated this fact, the tribe did not change their plans and continued to build the casino. The tribe’s lawyer blames the National Indian Gaming Commission for not ruling on the issue. If the tribe thought the government would give in and allow the casino after the hotel and casino were finished, they were wrong. The result is that the tribe is building another casino near there for a cost of $2.5 million.
